As Brent says, “Remember… when you’re not practicing, someone else is!” It is this statement which has led to the success of owning and managing Triple Crown All Stars since 2010.

Major League Baseball Career

Brent was drafted in the 2nd round — 56th pick overall — in the 1989 Major League Baseball draft. He was drafted by Toronto Blue Jays General Manager and Hall of Famer Pat Gillick. He played for the Toronto Blue Jays for six years with players such as Carlos Delgado, Shawn Green and Alex Gonzalez of the Chicago Cubs.

Brent was a left fielder who threw right, but batted left. He continued his MLB career with the Baltimore Orioles, helping his team to a wild card berth in 1996 and advancing to the American League Championship Series. The Orioles lost the AL Championship Series to the eventual 1996 MLB World Champion New York Yankees.

Brent furthered his career and went on to play with the Philadelphia Phillies, New York Mets, Cincinnati Reds, and Houston Astros. Brent has had the privilege of playing with Hall of Famers Cal Ripken Jr., Roberto Allamor Jr., Eddie Murray, and Rafael Palmeiro.

His career also sent him off to the adventures of international play in Korea with the Hyundai Unicorns, and then winter ball in Venezuela with the Barquisimeto Cardinelles and Pastora de los Llanos, and in the Dominican Republic with the Licey Tigres.

Coaching/Manager Career

Brent started his managerial career in 2002, managing in the Western League with the Solano Steelheads in California. Brent went on to be the Hitting/Third Base Coach with the Gary SouthShore Railcats under Manager Gary Templeton in the Northern League. Brent also managed the Windy City Thunderbolts of the Frontier League for two years before moving on to a bench coach position in the Northern League with the Winnipeg Goldeyes.

Brent then received the opportunity as Manager of the Edmonton Capitals in the Golden League, which he continued for three years. During this time he also managed in the Colombian Winter League with the Barranquilla Electricos, Sincelejo Toros, and the Monteria Leones. As Manager, he guided his team to the Colombian Winter League Championship, and had the privilege of managing two All Star games with the likes of MLB players Donavon Solano of the MInnesota Twins and Jose Quintana of the New York Mets, as well as two former MLB players Orlando Cabrera of the Chicago White Sox, and Edgar Renteria of the St.Louis Cardinals.

Personal

Brent was born in Bridgeview, Illinois, in 1971. He graduated from St. Laurence High School, in Burbank, Illinois, in 1989, the year he was drafted to the Major Leagues. He has been married to his wife Shayla since 2011.

What the patrons of Triple Crown All Stars are saying…

  • Go there all the time is great

  • Triple Crown is the best place to hit in Northwest Indiana. The owner Brent is never too busy to say hi. I specifically like how Brent keeps all costs reasonable for families knowing that travel ball already costs an arm & a leg. They also don't try to sell you anything you don't need. The family membership pays for itself if you like to get in the cages a couple times a month. Marv is almost always at the front desk during the week, you can tell he enjoys working there. He's super organized & does a great job with booking and reservations. Tommy is a great hitting instructor as well, he did a really good job with both of my daughters. He isn't a one size fits all type of instructor, he understands how to build a swing out based on the strength of the hitter.

  • I just finished a 3-month membership at Triple Crown for my daughter and we could not have asked for a better experience. The facility is great, the people even more so. The front desk folks were always very polite and helpful. Brett, Will and Marv are great people. Each took a sincere interest in getting to know me and my daughter. Everyone we encountered was positive, encouraging and friendly.

  • My son has been coming to Triple Crown for a few years now. Over that time he has had several instructors/coaches who have all been great. The entire staff has been great to work with as well, easy and professional. The instructors have used a nice blend of keeping it fun while putting in the work to obtain skill development for the younger athletes. Their instruction has made a huge difference in his overall confidence as well as his play on the field. These developments have helped him achieve his goal of being able to play travel ball as a pitcher. Thanks Triple Crown!

  • This place is absolutely amazing! Brent is so sweet and kind! We took our family tonight and had to drag our boys out. We will definitely be back and will recommend to everyone we know!

  • I bring my grandchildren to Triple Crown for softball and baseball lessons. The staff is great! From scheduling lessons to the instructors I could not be more pleased. I have seen growth in their skills and understanding of how to play the game. Plus my grandkids love Jess and Tommy!

  • We have only been here once for a one-on-one, but have signed up for more lessons! My son had his first hitting lesson with Tommy, and he left feeling much more confident, excited about the game, and with lots of new skills. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but they greatly exceeded my expectations.

  • My son has been taking lessons here for a few years and he loves it! The instructors are fun but also very good teachers and it's been exciting to watch my son grow in his knowledge and love for the game. Brent and Marv are always helpful and kind as well as accommodating for our busy schedule when finding time for lessons. This place is also great for team practices as there are multiple heated buildings and cages to work in.

  • I was looking for a training facility for my daughter and we were happy that we found Triple Crown All-stars. From the first time we walked in there, we were warmly greeted. We originally tried out the batting cages and that got us started. The more we used the facility, the more we liked it. We signed up for the membership and became regulars. I would highly recommend the membership as it pays for itself the more you use it. The coaching that we experienced is top notch. The coaches really care about the athletes that come here and are more than willing to help out and also answer any questions. They help the athletes build confidence in themselves to help improve their game. My daughter has been coming to Triple Crown for about 6 months and I've seen a lot of improvement and confidence in her pitching. Parents, if you are looking for quality training and coaching, you will not find a better group of people to guide your children in their willingness to improve their game.
